Sea Scout Ship 468 is a youth-led, high-adventure Sea Scouts program of Scouting America for young people ages ~14–20. Based at Lakewood Yacht Club, we sail, race, serve, and explore Galveston Bay and beyond.

Sea Scouts learn by doing. Our Scouts do more than ride on boats. They take the helm, work as a crew, make decisions, solve problems, and accept meaningful responsibility for the success and safety of their shipmates.
On the Water
On the Water
Learn keelboat sailing, racing, cruising, navigation, weather, docking, anchoring, vessel operations, and on-the-water safety. Our adventures also include canoeing, kayaking, camping, and other waterfront activities.
At the Helm
At the Helm
Ship 468 is youth-led. Scouts help choose and plan activities, lead meetings, teach developing crew members, and make real decisions. Adult leaders provide training, guidance, and appropriate safety guardrails.
Beyond the Boat

Sea Scouts develop confidence, character, teamwork, communication, and practical leadership through community service, maritime stewardship, and shared adventures.
Who Can Join?
Who Can Join?
Sea Scouts is a coed program of Scouting America.
Youth may join at age 14, or at age 13 after completing eighth grade, and may participate until their 21st birthday.
Previous sailing experience is not required. New members learn progressively, practice alongside experienced crew members, and take on greater responsibility as their skills and confidence grow.
The most important qualifications are curiosity, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work as part of a team.

Where We Meet
Where We Meet
Ship 468’s sailboats are berthed at Lakewood Yacht Club, where the Ship meets on Monday evenings at 7:30 p.m. (1930) during the school year. We meet earlier during summer months so we can enjoy a sail and watch the sun set.
Ship 468 serves Pearland, Clear Lake, and the surrounding Houston–Galveston Bay area. St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Pearland charters the Ship, which is part of the Bay Area Council, Scouting America.
Prospective Scouts and their families are welcome to visit. Please contact the Ship before attending so we can confirm the meeting location and planned activity.

News:
Sept. 5-7, 2026: SSS468 took 2nd place at Minto Rendezvous. Scouts from across Texas met to compete in an annual Sea Scouting contest challenging their knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Sept. 12, 2026: SSS468 Sirly took 1st place in the PHRF Spin class at the Galveston Yacht Club Fall TORC Regatta, a 48-mile offshore race.
Oct 3-4, 2026: The DF95 National Championship is a regatta for RC sailboats held this year on Main Street in Seabrook, Texas. At this event, 60 competitors from across the nation will gather to race in groups of 12-20 per heat. Ship 468 will be there to help manage the race course and also provide activities for youth at our booth. This event is open to the general public and free to attend. We're excited to work with the DF95 team, and we'd love for you to stop by our booth to say hello. Hope to "sea" you there!
