Harvest Moon Regatta
Sea Scout Ships from across Texas toured Coast Guard vessels, watched a Search & Rescue demonstration and received hands on training in shooting flares, extinguishing fires, boat repairs, radio communications, and more. The event coincided with Scouting America's Jamboree on the Air (JOTA). Safety at Sea participants were able to use ham radios to talk to scouts in other states, Asia, Central America, South America, and Canada.
60 competitors from across the nation gathered for a multi day RC sailboat regatta. Ship 468 had a team positioned on the water to reposition floating course markers and recover boats that loss power or became stuck. A second team confirmed each heat had the correct boats at the start line and then recorded the race results for the racing committee.
The 2026 Galveston Yacht Club's Fall TORC Regatta was a 48-nautical-mile offshore race. Bravo Zulu to our ship members on Team Sirly for finishing first in the PHRF Spin class.
Bravo Zulu to our sea scouts for taking 2nd place at this year's Minto Rendezvous competition. Minto Rendezvous is an annual event in which Sea Scout Ships from across Texas 20 events such as First Aid, Piloting, International Code Flags, Navigation, and Ground Tackle. A highlight of the 2026 event was the life sized game of Battleship that divided the ships into 2 fleets using cardboard boxes for boats and wet sponges for torpedoes. Ship 468 had a great time with our fellow competitors and we're looking forward to next year.
